Rouxpos History

Did you know that The Rouxpos has some Anglo Boer War history?

The “Battle of Driefontein” played out on the farm named Driefontein when a boer commando of 79, under the leadership of 19 year old Commandant Pieter van der Merwe, were ambushed. Only 28 of them survived when they fled and escaped over the mountains near Seweweeks Poort.

We leave Cape Town on on Friday morning and head for Montagu riding a combination of tar and dirt. We stop at Die Kloof Padstal for some refreshments.

We refuel and head up Ouberg Pass to Anysberg. Riding Anysberg is always a great one and the conditions is ever-changing making it an exciting and great ride. We exit the dirt just before the Floriskraal dam turn off and head into Laingsburg to refuel.

From Laingsburg we head towards Rouxpos/Vleiland where we stay at the rustic Ons Karoo Plaas.

After breakfast we have various options to explore and do a loop of around 250km that will include Seweweekspoort, Hoeko and Klein Swartberg Pass.

After breakfast we head back to Cape Town on a combination of dirt and tar.

We stay at Ons Karoo Plaas. Dinner and breakfast are included and you can be sure that we will treat you with some great food. There is a cash bar at the venue.
