The Garden Route have so much on offer that it’s worthwhile spending some time exploring it.

Along the route we show you some hidden secrets of the Garden Route and the Little Karoo which include some great wine farms and scenery we discovered.

We added some finesse so that the route and accommodation will also be partner/pillion friendly making it the perfect tour to bring your partner along for a long weekend treat.  

Our tour accommodation is at Wilderness Bush Camp  where there really is something for everyone. Couples can choose between a cosy studio apartment or a rustic hideaway cottage. For the more adventurous there are log cabins and cottages that creates the perfect atmosphere for a great bike tour with fellow riders. The views over Wilderness village are just amazing from the Bush Camp.

We leave Cape Town on Saturday morning. The route takes us via Robertson, Riversdale, and Herbertsdale riding a combination of tar and beautiful dirt roads. From Riversdale we ride some of the best dirt roads all along the foot of the mountain to George.

We arrive at our place of lodging in Wilderness where we stay for the next 3 nights

It’s Garden Route Day! We explore the Garden Route from Wilderness to Plettenberg Bay and along the route show you some hidden gems which includes forest rides, beautiful roads, passes and some wine farms.

The ride will be a beautiful pillion friendly ride but also suited to the more advanced rider who just wants to enjoy his bike and the route. Remember we have our WAVOLT bus where there is plenty of space should your pillion or yourself just want to relax and enjoy the route. 

We stop for lunch at Enrico’s in Keurbooms which is the perfect setting overlooking the bay while having some great food. 

After lunch we head back to Wilderness 


We start with Map of Africa and then dip into the Klein Karoo over Montaqu pass where we have a quick coffee a the old tollhouse.  We ride a beautiful route past Herold Winefarm,  Kammanassie valley and then Vegelegen where you will see the beautiful Red Stone Hills of the Little Karoo.

For lunch we give you a unique South African bushveld experience in the heart of the Klein Karoo, Buffelsdrift! Specializing in authentic Karoo cuisine, the Buffelsdrift Restaurant offers a delicious a la carte menu of homemade foods and local fresh produce. The restaurant expands to the wooden deck, overlooking a 5ha waterhole filled with big fish, turtles and hippo.  If you are lucky, you might even spot the elephants and other game on the opposite bank.

After lunch we make our way back to Wilderness riding a combination of tar and dirt roads.  

The evening we will treat you to a special sunset dinner on the beachfront.


After breakfast we make our way back to Cape Town.

Nestled on a hilltop, overlooking Wilderness main beach, this hidden gem is the perfect place to host our tour.

Accommodation is in various self-catering suites, studios and cabins in the Bushcamp.  This provides you a lot of privacy for you and your partner to do a bit of your own thing in a tour. The Bushcamp offers beautiful views over Wilderness, the lakes and the beach.  All bedding and towels are provided by our places of lodging. You need to pack your own toiletries.

All meals will be cooked by ourselves as we believe that is part of the WAVOLT gees on our tours. 

Intermediate skill level – The route on this bike tour is comfortable and pillion friendly. The average intermediate rider should easily navigate through the route even with a pillion on board.

You must be comfortable riding at 80 KM/H on solid pack dirt roads as an indication. We have done this route many a time giving you peace of mind that we know the pitfalls and can assist you to easily navigate through them.
